At my new job, I’m focusing on a great passion of mine–social media. My first blog post for our new website is up now, and talks about six very important things to keep in mind when you’re in charge of a brand (including your own). Check it out!

Time for a new look
It’s been a few years since I last updated how the site looks. Who doesn’t need a change from time to time? I decided to shake things up, chill out the color palette, add some social buttons, and do some general rearranging and updating.
What do you think?
What do you get when a Muslim feminist and a gay atheist go out for coffee?
Chris D. Stedman, author of Faitheist, toured Oregon universities this week to talk about his book and his viewpoints. It was awesome to finally meet him (we’ve been following each other on Twitter for some time) and talk about interfaith activism (i.e., shop talk) over coffee.
Thanks for coming by, Chris! Be sure to pick up his book when you get a chance.
Flyover Feminism profile
Flyover Feminism is doing an awesome series of interviews with feminists, and I was very flattered to be included!
Check out their profile of me, very aptly titled, “Practical Feminism,” which is up today!
Piece on Muslim Feminism at The Huffy
Erika’s piece on Muslim feminism is now on The Huffington Post! Give it a look.
It’s been so long.
Sorry for the lag, friendlies. I’ve been quiet lately because I’ve been busy: I recently got an awesome job as a Social Media & Marketing Specialist with brass Media Inc.! I’m very happy in my new position, and it takes up a fair bit of my time. Unfortunately, this means I’m scaling back quite a bit in my writing and speaking stuff, but I’m excited for my new challenge.
I’ll continue to post from time to time when things pop up, however. For example, Erica Sánchez wrote a piece about Muslim feminism for the Common Ground News Service, and interviewed me along with the very sharp Safa Samiezade-Yazd from Aslan Media, Shaista Patel from the University of Toronto, and Mehrunisa Qayyum from Pita Policy. Check out the entire article here!
What is inflation?
My newest Money Side of Life piece why people my age should pay attention to inflation.
Vote this November!
I attempt to be largely apolitical. But I vote in every single election.
I write about why at AltMuslimah:
But I’m informing myself about the candidates and voting anyway. There are several reasons for this. First, and most simple of all, I am an American, and it is my duty as an American to vote if I am eligible. I hear a lot of talk about our rights as citizens of this country to free speech or to bear arms, but it seems the responsibilities that accompany these rights are often conveniently neglected.
Check out the entire piece there.
My first infographic!
I published my first infographic for Money Side of Life last week! And, of course, it’s about clothes and closet organization. Check it out!
My tweets won the internet!
So I spent all day Monday tweeting sarcastic #MuslimRage tweets. My hard Twitter work earned me mentions in the Vancouver Observer and NYmag.com.
It also got me a place on NPR’s “All Things Considered!” Check out audio and a transcript here.
